South Tipperary Positive Mental Health Festival

South Tipperary Positive Mental Health Festival (1-10 Oct) was launched in the wonderful sunshine of Morton Street Day Centre , Clonmel on Thursday 17th September.

Morton Street Day Centre provided refreshments, flower arrangements, an art exhibition, wall-based personal quotations and live music by Majella and Jim. The Mayor, Pat English and other guest speakers gave insightful and in depth talks. The launch was visited by people from all walks of life and different community groups.

The Festival is organised by a group from the South Tipperary Action Network (S.T.A.N.) with the support and involvement of many community  organisations and groups. The aim this year is to bring positive mental health and awareness to the forefront with a variety of community events during the 10 day festival.

One of the many highlights is the premier of The Dark Room, a play written and directed by Catherine McVicker. Wed 7th & Thurs 8th at The White Memorial Theatre.

Also Art Hive and Cluain Training & Enterprise Centre host Nest Space on Thurs 8th and Friday 9th. Nest Space is a pop-up event combining conversation and art where mental health awareness and information will be provided in a creative and enjoyable environment. Indulge in the pamper area, watch the demonstrations of the training offered by Cluain Centre trainees and Plant a Seed of Hope.

Get your dancing shoes on for a Céilí on Fri 9th at Hillview Sports Centre and on World Mental Health Day,Saturday 10th Oct, the South Tipperary Mental Health Consumer Panel will host “Bright Side of the Arches ” a feel good event under the Arches of the Main Guard.
