See Change, Ireland’s national mental health stigma reduction partnership, has received a commendation by the former Lord Mayor of Dublin, Hazel Chu, for its tireless and sustained dedication to fairness and justice in campaigning to reduce mental health stigma.
See Change is a project of Shine, the national organisation providing information and support for people affected by mental ill health and their families. Shine advocates for social change, promoting and defending the right of all those affected by mental ill health to equal rights and quality services.
Commenting on the award, See Change Programmes Leader, Barbara Brennan, said “It’s lovely to be recognised for all of our hard work and dedication to challenging attitudes towards mental health. Understanding stigma and it’s impact is the first step towards reducing it. Our work is informed by people with lived experiences of mental health difficulties who are best placed to give insight into what mental health stigma really is.”
