Sometimes resting can mean just to do this quick exercise for a few cycles of breathing. When the kids scream too loud or the significant other still hasn’t done what you have been asking them for at least the past three weeks.

It could be an anxiety attack coming at you because we are still in the middle of the pandemic instead of finally on the way out. Life could be tough right now, because you or a loved one received unsettling news. Whatever it is, take a break! You deserve it!

“But it’s Christmas” I hear you say.

So I ask: “When did Christmas become such a race, a competition, such a challenge?” The most amazing food, table decoration, Christmas tree, super expensive gifts, in fact: MANY super expensive gifts, matching Christmas PJs, the perfect happy Christmas family picture (for Instagram of course) and a sparkling clean house.

Don’t get me wrong, love it all. But you know what? Like with all things in life: There aren’t many “HAVE TOs”.

So this year, why not challenge yourself to have a relaxed and peaceful Christmas?

We ordered our Christmas dinner. Lots of lovely trays of food will arrive at our house the day before Christmas to be heated in the oven. No rushing to the supermarket at the last minute, no fighting over the last bag of brussel sprouts in the fruit and vegetable aisle!

I love spending Christmas day on mattresses in our sitting room, eating mountains of chocolate and watching black and white movies while our son enjoys his news toys and our dog is snuggled up between us.

Whatever way you will be spending Christmas this year, remind yourself to rest every now and then.

Breathe in, 1, 2, 3, 4

Hold, 1, 2, 3, 4

Breath out 1, 2, 3, 4

Hold 1, 2, 3, 4
