For #WorkplaceWednesdays, EY share how they have been supporting their colleagues over the last few months:
Green Ribbon Month 2020
Supporting our colleagues
EY’s dedicated health and wellbeing portal, Thrive, which has been in place for over a year has been expanded to provide podcasts, blog updates and webinars on topics such as ‘healthy eating and quarantine’ and ‘sleeping challenges during a pandemic’. Thrive enables everyone at EY to have access to a doctor at no cost via its webdoctor application, as well as providing a free 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme. The Employee Assistance Programme gives everyone in EY and their families access to a wide range of online support such as video and phone counselling sessions during both COVID-19 and an on-going basis.
The EY Mental Health Network have been issuing a ‘Time Out Thursday’ Newsletter which provides tips on how to mind our mental health during these strange and challenging times. Each week the Network chooses a topic which gives people hints and tips on how to stay on top of their mental and physical health. Since lockdown began, In partnership with a local gym, EY launched free virtual daily gym classes available to all and also teamed up with Niall Breslin, otherwise known as ‘Bressie’, who runs mindfulness sessions each week.
Green Ribbon Month
Every year, for the month of May EY actively promotes Green Ribbon Month and this year, despite not being together physically, the Mental Health Network felt it was important to bring the firm together virtually. EY successfully launched a virtual ‘What Mental Health Means to Me’ Postcard Campaign which aimed to get people talking openly about what mental health means to them and how they manage their own mental health. The campaign received a huge response with enteries coming from colleagues across all levels and each week, the EY Mental Health Network shared these entries across the firm.
The EY Mental Health Network also launched a weekly ‘How’s The Head’ podcast. EY colleagues from all levels of the firm, including members of the EY graduate programme, managers, directors and partners were invited to speak about their mental health and what they are doing to overcome some of the challenges we now face as a result of COVID-19. The Women in Advisory Network also supported the Green Ribbon campaign hosting a virtual Mental Health and Wellbeing breakfast and promoting the ‘How’s The Head’ podcast through their podcast recommendation of the month series. Finally, the EY Mental Health Network promoted the flagship Darkness into Light event raising funds for Pieta House which successfully raised in excess of €6,000.
