On Friday September 19th See Change once again took part in “Dublin Park(ing) Day”, an annual worldwide experiment in reclaiming public space. For a single day, on-street car parking spaces around the city were transformed into imaginative public spaces for everyone to enjoy. The concept is intended to promote creativity, civic engagement, critical thinking, unscripted social interactions, generosity and play.
This year we used a real life ‘Conversation Tree’ to get people in the city centre talking about mental health. TXFM broadcast from the spot at no.130 St. Stephens Green and provided the soundtrack for the day.
Inspired by the old Irish tradition of the wishing tree we asked passers by to stop and add their mental health messages to its branches. People outside of Dublin also joined in the conversation by tweeting the team at @seechangesorcha, @seechangescott or @seechangeciara and to make sure their message was displayed on the tree too.
