In November 2013, See Change teamed up with the Union of Students in Ireland, St Patrick’s Mental Health Services and Lyons Tea to distribute thousands of “Chats for Change” tea packs across college campuses nationwide to spark open conversation of mental health. The “Chats for Change” tea packs included tips on taking the fear out of taking about mental health and useful support service contacts all aimed at encouraging students to make time and space to chat about their mental health while enjoying a cup of Lyons tea.
Here, we hear from Grace and Evan, two See Change youth panel members to share their experiences of college, opening up and looking after their mental health:
Grace, TCD Student Nurse:
“Over the last four or so years I’ve attended two different universities, seen three different student counselors, four different college health GPs and two psychiatrists. I have been in the welfare crew in UCD and a Peer Supporter in Trinity. I’m pretty well versed in the supports available to students in Ireland from both sides, and have nothing but the highest praise for all of them.
